Washington was one of the first two states (alongside Colorado) to legalize recreational cannabis through Initiative 502 in November 2012. The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) licenses and regulates all cannabis retailers.

Washington adults 21+ may purchase up to 1 ounce of cannabis flower, 16 ounces of cannabis-infused edibles (solid), 72 ounces of cannabis-infused edibles (liquid), or 7 grams of concentrate at a licensed retailer.

How to buy cannabis in Washington

2. 2Bring valid ID. All Washington dispensaries require a government-issued photo ID proving you are 21 or older. Accepted IDs typically include driver's licenses, passports, and state-issued ID cards.
3. 3Browse the menu. Washington dispensaries carry flower, pre-rolls, edibles, concentrates, and vapes. Ask the budtender for help with product selection and dosage, especially if you're new.
4. 4Pay and take your purchase home. Most Washington dispensaries accept cash and debit. Cannabis must remain sealed until you are at your private residence. Do not consume in public or while driving.
